Workplace Values
"Agreeing to disagree" is a simple phrase that says it all.
If we spend one-third of our day working, we want to be in a place where we can be ourselves. A value that I see as extremely necessary is respect for others—for their opinions, beliefs, and choices. This is where we need to unite the three values below.
Professionals are seeking companies that embrace these values.
Diversity is not only linked to physical aspects like race, ethnicity, gender, and age. It encompasses everything that makes one person different from another, including socioeconomic background, sexual orientation, beliefs, perspectives, opinions, and more.
A diverse group can think outside the box because different people bring different perspectives.
Equity is not the same as equality. Equity recognizes that each person has different circumstances and allocates resources and opportunities with the goal of achieving an equal outcome.
Inclusion promotes a sense of belonging and value in the environment.
Diversity is being invited to the party; inclusion is being asked to dance.
